Shoulder-season crowds grow by late spring; the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May is a major draw. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest, longest days and full attraction access—peak season with higher prices and busy Windsor Castle queues. Expect events, river cruises and frequent Changing of the Guard ceremonies. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Cooler, crisp air and golden parkland — off-peak with fewer tourists and better value. The Windsor Festival (arts and music) typically takes place in autumn. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold and quieter; shorter hours at sites but festive lights, holiday markets and seasonal events create a cozy atmosphere. Good for lower costs and calmer sightseeing.
