Spring (Mar–May): Mild, increasingly sunny days and blooming countryside. Shoulder season means fewer crowds and lower prices—good for walking, gardens and rural events such as local village fetes. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest and sunniest, peak tourism, busy seaside towns (Skegness, Cleethorpes) and higher accommodation rates. Key events include the Lincolnshire Show (early June) and numerous food and village festivals. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Crisp, golden landscapes and quieter roads—another shoulder season with cheaper stays. Good for country drives, harvest festivals and fungi/leaf‑colour walks; watch for shorter daylight and occasional rain. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold, blustery and peaceful off‑peak travel at best value. The big draw is Lincoln Christmas Market (late Nov/early Dec); winter is also excellent for birdwatching on coastal reserves during migration.
