Spring (Mar–May): mild, blossoming clifftops and comfortable walking weather. Shoulder season—fewer crowds and lower rates than summer; good for coastal walks and visiting galleries. Expect Easter/bank-holiday busy spells. Summer (Jun–Aug): warmest, sunniest, best for beaches, boating and family holiday facilities. Peak season—busy streets, higher prices and full accommodation. Feast Week events and local summer markets add lively atmosphere. Autumn (Sep–Nov): still mild in September, cooling later. Fewer tourists, great light for photography and calmer galleries. St Ives September Festival (arts and music) is a highlight; surf improves as swells increase. Winter (Dec–Feb): coolest, often windy and rainy—excellent for storm-watching and a cosy pub atmosphere. Off-peak: lowest prices, easier parking, but some small businesses may have reduced hours.
