Spring (Mar–May): mild, increasingly sunny days and fewer crowds. Good for coastal walks, birdwatching and early season café openings—shoulder-season balance of weather and quieter streets. Summer (Jun–Aug): warmest and busiest—peaking July–August with families, full shops, open pier, and lively beach atmosphere. Summer events like the Regatta and local festivals bring the biggest crowds. Autumn (Sep–Nov): cooler, blustery seawinds and dramatic skies, but far quieter than summer. Excellent for storm-watching, long walks and lower prices; harvest and local food events often happen in nearby villages. Winter (Dec–Feb): cold, wet and very peaceful—off-peak with cozy pubs, occasional Christmas lights/markets and the best low-season solitude. Expect some attractions to have reduced hours.
