Spring (Mar–May): Pleasant, mild days and flowering parks make this a lovely time. Shoulder-season crowds are smaller than summer; expect occasional rain. Look out for Easter and boutique spring markets. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest and busiest—great for canal walks, terraces and outdoor festivals. Peak prices and more tourists during school holidays; many local music, food and arts events run in this period. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Crisp, golden parks and quieter streets—another shoulder season with lower rates and fewer visitors. Good for cosy cafés and harvest/food events; weather cools and rain increases toward November. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold and quieter, often the cheapest time to visit except around Christmas when festive lights, markets and seasonal events draw locals. Shorter daylight and occasional frost/snow.
