May and September–early October offer warm days, comfortable evenings, and far fewer crowds than July and August, making beach time and sightseeing more relaxed while most restaurants and hotels remain open. High summer, June through August, guarantees long sunny days and very warm sea temperatures, ideal for parties and full-service beach clubs, but expect large crowds, premium prices, and the persistent Meltemi winds that cool the heat while sometimes making the sea choppier for small boat trips. Winter and early spring are quieter and more economical, with cooler, changeable weather and many seasonal businesses closed. This is a good tradeoff for travelers prioritizing lower costs and solitude over guaranteed sunshine and full island services.
