Keswick

Spring (Mar–May): Cool and changeable; trails green up, lambing and wildflowers appear. Fewer crowds than summer—great for quieter hikes and the Keswick Mountain Festival held in late spring. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest, long daylight and best walking weather; busiest and priciest period with markets, outdoor music and family events—book ahead. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Crisp air, dramatic foliage and lower visitor numbers; ideal for photography and longer drives. Early autumn hosts literary and beer/music events, but after October it’s much quieter. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold with shorter days and possible snow on the fells; off-peak so accommodation is cheaper. Town has cosy pubs and seasonal Christmas/New Year activities, but some fell routes may be hazardous—check conditions.
