Spring (Mar–May): Mild, improving weather with fewer crowds — a pleasant shoulder season for coastal walks and wildlife watching. Many cafes and attractions reopen for the year. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest and sunniest, peak tourist season with busy beaches, full timetables and seaside festivals, carnivals and outdoor concerts — book ahead. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Cooler, blustery but often dramatic seascapes; quieter after August so good for lower prices, cosy pubs and late-season events like art trails and food markets. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold, windy and wet at times; truly off-peak so peaceful harbour views, festive Christmas/lantern events and New Year activities, but some attractions run reduced hours.
