Spring (Mar–May): Mild, increasingly sunny (typical highs 8–15°C). Shoulder season—fewer crowds, cheaper accommodation—great for coastal walks and seeing blooms in the Lower Leas Gardens and Creative Quarter. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest (typical highs 18–22°C) and busiest—peak tourism, lively harbour arm pop-ups, outdoor dining and beach time. Expect higher prices and fuller trains/ferries. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Cooler (10–15°C) and quieter after August. Good for blustery cliff walks and photography. Major arts events—most notably the Folkestone Triennial when it runs—can draw crowds in late summer/early autumn. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold and brisk (2–8°C), lowest visitor numbers and best value. Cosy pubs, Christmas lights/markets and quieter galleries make it pleasant for a low-key visit, though some seasonal venues close.
