Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest, driest weather and longest days. Peak tourist season—expect more crowds, open cafes/boat trips, and community events, carnivals and live-music nights around the harbour. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Mild early on, turning cooler and windier later with dramatic coastal weather. Off-peak after September—excellent for peaceful walks, bird migration watching and storm-gazing; fewer visitors and lower accommodation rates. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold, wet and blustery but atmospheric. Quietest time with many attractions reduced hours; local Christmas and New Year events provide seasonal cheer.
