Shoulder season with the popular May walking festivals and good trail conditions—quieter than summer but can be busy on festival weekends. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest, longest days—best for extended hikes on the Long Mynd and Stiperstones. Peak tourist season with more cafés, markets and outdoor events, so book accommodation in advance. Showery spells are common. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Crisp, cool air and spectacular foliage—excellent for photography and less crowded trails. Shoulder season with harvest and local village events; weekends can attract walkers. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold, shorter days, chance of snow on the hills. Off-peak for visitors—cheaper, cosy pubs and local Christmas activities, but bring warm gear and check conditions.
