Cheltenham

Spring (Mar–May): cool to mild with changeable showers. March is very busy and expensive for the Cheltenham Festival (horse racing); April–May are pleasant shoulder months with fewer crowds and the Jazz Festival in May. Summer (Jun–Aug): warmest, longest days and generally drier. This is peak tourist season—hotter rates and busy streets—but ideal for exploring the Regency town, nearby Cotswolds and summer outdoor events. Autumn (Sep–Nov): crisp, cooler and often blustery. Largely off-peak after summer with better hotel deals; October’s Literature Festival brings a cultural boost and autumn colours are attractive for walks. Winter (Dec–Feb): cold and wet, lowest visitor numbers and the best value. Expect Christmas markets and lights in December and occasional indoor festivals or racing fixtures.
