Summer (Dec–Feb): Hot, humid and beach-perfect. This is peak season—busy beaches, higher prices and lively nightlife. Expect New Year’s and summer festivals, plus school-holiday crowds. Autumn (Mar–May): Warm, quieter and comfortable. Off-peak after Easter (except during Bluesfest at Easter), good surfing and fewer tourists—ideal for relaxed days and lower rates. Winter (Jun–Aug): Mild, cooler mornings and excellent whale-watching (June–November). Fewer sunbathers but still pleasant; Splendour in the Grass (July) draws crowds, otherwise lower accommodation rates. Spring (Sep–Nov): Warm, blossoming landscapes and great surf. Shoulder season with moderate crowds; whale migration continues into November. Good balance of pleasant weather, events and value.
