Spring (Mar–May): Mild, often damp but pleasant for walks; Arundel Castle gardens burst into bloom and the arts/ music Arundel Festival typically runs in late spring. Shoulder season—fewer tourists early on, busier by May. Summer (Jun–Aug): Warmest, longest days and peak visitor numbers. Best for river activities, outdoor concerts and markets; book accommodations and castle tickets in advance. Autumn (Sep–Nov): Cooler, crisp air and rich autumn colours in the castle grounds and nearby wetlands. Generally quieter (good shoulder/off‑peak), with wildlife watching as migratory birds pass through. Winter (Dec–Feb): Cold, wet and very quiet except around Christmas. Festive lights, Christmas markets and castle seasonal events draw visitors in December; otherwise good for low‑season rates and cozy pub evenings.
